Did you ever have a patient with a toothache and you scratched your head because you couldn’t determine the origin of the pain? This lecture will help you become a better diagnostician. Did you know that some toothaches could be cause by referred muscle pain or primary headache disorders? While others may be caused by neuropathic pain. This lecture will introduce the clinician to various pain conditions that can manifest as toothaches in the absence of dental or periodontal disease.

At the end of this lecture, the student will

• Become familiar with diagnosing atypical toothaches
• Become more familiar with differentiating between musculoskeletal, neurovascular and neuropathic toothaches
